I started Motorsport World on 23 November 2000 after a career as a mechanical engineer specialising on the scientific side of gas flow, gaining a PhD in the subject in 1989. I became manager of the laboratory that maintains the UK National Standards for gas flowrate and also worked at one of the world’s leading engine design companies on inlet and exhaust port design. But, as with many people, I had always dreamt of running my own business but it took the usual mid-life crisis at the grand old age of 40 to make me do something about it. Whatever my business was going to be it was always going to involve cars for which I have had a life long passion. I also found the internet fascinating when it came along and decided to join the two to make a business. I tried various things but naturally homed in on the performance parts mail-order business and aimed at providing a service that I would like to receive as a customer. I fought from the beginning to keep prices down whilst providing the best service possible and it paid off with rapid growth year on year, becoming a top ten company for a number of the brands you will see in this website.
