Sergeant Espinoza was born in Houston, Texas, 22 August 1960. In March 1981 he enlisted under the delayed enlistment program and reported to basic training, Lackland AFB, Texas on 6 October 1981. After graduation, he was assigned to the 552nd Component Repair Squadron, Tinker AFB, Oklahoma as an isochronal inspection team member. He performed TDY's To Riyad, Saudi Arabia in support of AWACS. In January 1984, he was reassigned to 513th Organizational Maintenance Squadron, Mildenhall RAF, England as a flightline crew chief and phase dock inspector. While assigned to the 513th, he supported several alert EC-135C TDY's to the Azores, Portugal. He was awarded the USAFE Master Technical Award for zero discrepancies on all Quality Assurance evaluations.
His final assignment to the 89th Organizational Maintenance Squadron, Andrews AFB, Maryland put him in several positions. From January 1987 to August 1990 he worked in the isochronal docks as inspector and rigging specialist (one of four people), on C-135B/C, C-140, C-9C, and C-137-B/C aircraft. In August 1990, when 89th Organizational Maintenance Squadron became 89th Aircraft Generation Squadron, he took on the full time job as squadron NCOIC benchstock/ctk monitor. Supervising eight personnel, he managed the squadron toolroom until August 1995 when he become the squadron Resource Advisor until September 1997, overseeing a budget of $1.5 m for more than 460 personnel including Presidential support. Sergeant Espinoza returned to the isochronal dock to become Senior Dock Chief and eventually the Section Chief. During this second stint his leadership and work ethics raised the inspection section productivity to an all time high completing over 17 separate inspections in a 30 day window on 5 different airframes. In February 2001 he took over the specialist section as Chief, directing 57 aircraft specialists in support of 24 hour coverage maintaining the Vice Presidential fleet. When AGS deactivated in March 2002, he was reassigned as Chief, 89th Maintenance Operations Center ensuring wing leadership received accurate aircraft status on the 89th fleet aircraft.
His military awards include the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Navy Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, with seven devices, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with seven devices, National Defense Service Medal with one device, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with four devices, NCO Professional Military Education Graduation Ribbon with two oak leaf clusters, and the Air Force Training Ribbon.
Sergeant Espinoza is married to the former Teresa Lynn Turnbull of Great Falls, Montana. They met and married at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma in 1983. Teresa is employed with the 89th Services Squadron, Andrews AFB, Maryland as the ITT Director. The Espinoza's currently reside in Charlotte Hall, Maryland.
