The Club began in 1951 in the Kitchener, Ontario, Canada area, as a Region of the Horseless Carriage Club of America. By 1963, it had grown to the point where it withdrew from the parent club and received its own Federally granted Charter. In 1977 membership topped 1,100 for the first time, and it currently maintains a position as one of the largest Canadian Clubs of its kind in Canada.
Formed in 1992 is our Heritage 35 Group which operates on a National basis and focuses on vehicles of 1935 and earlier vintage. This group plans two or three events yearly where these older vehicles may be driven at speeds more suitable to them.
While H.A.S.C. is concentrated mainly in Ontario, it has several out-of-province members and sometimes hosts groups from other areas. Membership is divided into 15 Regions, each of which holds a series of Outdoor Meets and Tours in the summer months, as well as Indoor Meets during the winter, which feature seminars as well as social events for the whole family.
Each H.A.S.C. member receives THE CANADIAN KLAXON, the Club Magazine, published 5 times yearly. The Klaxon is the voice of H.A.S.C. and keeps everyone up-to-date on both National and Regional news. In YE OLDE BARTER SHOPPE members may advertise at no cost, cars and parts that they wish to sell or purchase.
