During the 1970's the owner/operator of British Sports Cars, Peter Jurgens, built and raced cars for a living in the United Kingdom. In 1979 one of his sponsors, Britax Sunroofs asked if he would consider moving to California to open a subsidiary for the sunroof company. In 1980 he moved to San Luis Obispo and started British Sunroofs and Conversions.

What he did not know was that the British auto industry had gone out of business in the US leaving lots of British cars with no specialist repair shops. He soon had more people wanting their cars serviced, than people wanting sunroofs. In 1981 the name of the business was changed to British Sports Cars. A full European auto parts department was started within the business along with sales and service. Today Peter still repairs sunroofs and is the only person in the San Luis Obispo area that does so.

Since he was 13 years old, Peter has been building, restoring, racing and servicing British cars. British Sports Cars is a family run business with Peters son Justin handling all of the internet sales.
