Citizens For Crime Awareness (CFCA) is a volunteer organization, recognized by the Winnipeg Police Service, dedicated to promoting crime awareness and crime prevention in the community. Our goal is to make the community a safer and a better place in which to live.

CFCA works in association with the police and other organizations:

1. in making people aware of the nature and extent of crimes against person and property in their community and,

2. in telling people what steps they can take, as individuals, but also, and perhaps more importantly, with their neighbours, towards reducing crime in their community.

Citizens For Crime Awareness Winnipeg, working together with constituent CFCA chapters, provides a forum for discussion of common interests and for the planning of joint projects and programs.

CFCA has a close working relationship with the Police in our community, particularly with the Community Relations Crime Prevention unit.

CFCA has a formal agreement with the Winnipeg Police Service - under which CFCA assumes a number of responsibilities. One of these responsibilities is to act as a two-way channel of communication for crime information between the Police and city residents who are members of the Neighbourhood Watch program. The Police work with CFCA in running the Neighbourhood Watch program, for example, by providing speakers at Neighbourhood Watch meetings. The Police also join in promoting and coordinating crime prevention activities or events in the community.

CFCA has a good working relationship with many of the other organizations concerned with crime prevention and education in Winnipeg.

CFCA is a member organization of the Senior Crime and Safety Network, where most of the community organizations and agencies of government having an interest in Safety issues affecting Seniors are represented.
