Toyota -
Toyota Motor Corp. said Monday its cumulative group global automobile production in January-September rose 4.3 pct from a year before to 6,990,791 units.
Toyota's production, which includes vehicle output by subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor Co. <7262> and Hino Motors Ltd. <7205>, exceeds the production estimate of 6,906,000 units for the nine months by U.S. giant General Motors Corp.
In the same period, Toyota's own production in the United States increased 10.6 pct as it launched a plant in Texas in November 2006 and started outsourcing production in April this year to Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. <7270>.
Production in China by Toyota alone surged 61.3 pct after the start of full-scale operations at its plant in Guangzhou. Output also significantly increased in Australia and Thailand.
Toyota's unconsolidated domestic output, however, edged down 0.4 pct to 3,092,847 units, due in part to a production stoppage related to a strong earthquake in July in Niigata Prefecture, central Japan.
Domestic sales declined 8.1 pct to 1,204,580 units on the back of sluggish market conditions in the country.
Meanwhile, Toyota's group global sales in January-September fell about 10,000 units short of GM's total.
