The Audi
logo shows four touching rings arranged horizontally. The Audi
company says that the four circles of their company emblem represent
the amalgamation of four formerly independent motor-vehicle manufacturers
in 1932. They include Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer.
The BMW
logo is said to represent a spinning propellor of a plane, with
the white being the propeller and the blue being the sky background,
as the BMW
company used to manufacture aircraft engines. The blue and white
has also been said to represent the Bavarian flag, which is the
origin of BMW (Bavarian Motor Works).

The Ferrari
logo of the prancing horse on a yellow background suggests speed
and power. The green white and red stripes are from the Italian
flag. It is said that Enzo Ferrari used the prancing horse after
Count Francesco Baracca, who was a famous fighter pilot from the
Italian Air Force that was shot down and killed after a very successful
career. Baracca would have the prancing horse on the sides of his

The Ford
logo was first trademarked back in 1907 and was first used on
the 1928 Model A model automobile. Childe Wills, an early employee
of the Ford
Motor Company was a major contribitor of the Ford logo design.
The current blue oval of Ford has a ratio of 8:3.
The Holden
logo above is for the most recent revision of the Holden badge
which has been used since 1994. Previous revisions to the logo were
made in 1928 and 1972 but they all included the stylized lion holding

The Honda
logo above is for the car division of the Honda
Motor Company, with the emblem changing for their other divisions
(motorcycles, trucks, jets, etc). The H logo of the automobile division
is a stylized H for Honda.
The Lamborghini
logo shows a yellow charging bull on a black background. The
bull is said to represent the Taurus zodiac sign of the founder
Ferruccio Lamborghini. Several Lamborghini
cars also took their name from famous fighting bulls.
The Maserati
logo refers to the city of Bologna where the auto maker was
founded. The trident symbol used in the logo is a common site in
the city with the statue of Neptune holding a trident being a major
centerpiece. A trident is a three pronged spear used as a military

The current Mazda
logo started being used by the automobile maker in 1997. It
is a stylized letter M, which is also two wings representing the
company's future ambitions. The Mazda logo is also said to look
like a tulip or an owl. It was designed by Rei Yoshimara. Mazda

The Porsche
logo includes elements of the Wurttemberg coat of arms and the
prancing horse of the Stuttgart coat of arms in Germany. Above the

The Toyota
logo looks like a number of things, but the Toyota
Company see it as three ovals that show the heart of the customer
or the heart of the product. Other interpretations have seen the
automobile logo as a stylized letter T, an angel wearing a halo,
or even an American cowboy wearing a hat.

The Volkswagen
logo was designed by an engineer called Franz Reimspiess after
the company had an office competition to design the logo. It is
the letter V over the letter W, bordered by a circle. Volkswagen
